FITRI SHIFTS FOCUS TO SECOND BEST
19 November 2010

Knowing that he is no longer in contention for the Wira title chase, Mohd Fitri Ashraf Razali now shifts his focus for the second best as he hopes to step onto the podium in the penultimate leg of the PETRONAS AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship that will be held at Sepang International Circuit (South Track) on November 20 and 21.

The Caviaga Cilik Racing rider rank fourth overall in the standings with 92 points is 49-point adrift of Championship leader, Mohd Adib Rosley of Motul Yamaha YY Pang who has 141 points. Meanwhile, Adib's teammate, Mohd Azhar Abdul Jalil is second with 133 points while third place belongs to Mohd Syawalludin Mohd Zaki (FortyOne Racing) with 105 points.

Even though, mathematically he still stands a very slim chance for the coveted crown but the 16-year old rider believes it takes a miracle for it to happen. He said, "Even though, if I win the remaining two rounds, Adib just need to collect one more point and it's enough for him to take the title away for me. Therefore, I wouldn't want to give myself any false hopes and begin to set my eyes on the second best which is a more realistic target."

"Even so, I realize that it will not be an easy task to catch up with Azhar as the gap between us is 41-point. Not only is he a very consistent rider but I am certain he will go all out to defend the Wira title. However, there is no harm to try and my objective this weekend is to finish the race among top-3."

He went on to say that he is thirsty for a podium finish, "Things haven't been going the way I wanted it to be as I failed to secure a podium in the second half of the season. My last taste of podium was in Kuala Terengganu (Round 5) when I managed to come in third placing. After that, it was a very rough ride for me. I hope in the remaining two rounds, I will get to end the season on high."

Asking him would he be happy if he ends the season in fourth overall position, he said yes and went on to share, "This season I only set my target fifth overall and with my current position, I have actually achieve my target. However, now I want to aim higher and hope to finish within top three in the overall standings."
