News PROFILE: A DAY WITH AFIF AT THE MIMC TRACK 22 February 2012  Last Friday, we had the opportunity to spend an entire day with CKJ Yamaha Racing at the Melaka International Motorsports Circuit in Malacca (MIMC) where they tested out the machines and training riders. Ahmad Afif Amran tells us of their activities in detail. Hi Afif! How long have you been here at the MIMC? Actually, I just reached here this morning where else the rest of the team had been here since Monday. I came late because I had to attend school and furthermore this year I'll be taking SPM so I can't afford to skip too many classes. Alright then, what have you been doing here since this morning? Like any other training session everything starts out with physical training by jogging around the track a few laps. At the same time, while jogging I try to understand the layout of the track before getting on my Yamaha. What happens after that? Done with physical training and understanding the circuit, I'd put my racing gear on and start hitting the tarmac on the many bikes we have so that I get a better feeling of the different setup provided by the mechanics. Apart from that, at some point of the day my teammates and I pretend this is an actual race so we try to outrun each other on track. Based on today's practice, are you satisfied with your laptime? Not really but I'm confident of going faster. After all this is my first day and there are still alot of weaknesses to sort out and I'm not at the peak of my fitness which is normal after so long not riding. Additionally, we have yet to find the right setup for the bikes. What are your hopes this season? For 2012 I'll be competing in the CP115 category. To be frank, I just can't wait to start racing again after a great campaign last year. But at the same time, I don't want to hold my breath because I'm up against a lot of talented riders who are more experienced than me. Even so, everyone on the team is working hard to ensure we are at the peak of our game when the season commences because if possible, we want to try and get a podium at the opening leg.
