HAFIZ FEELING MOTIVATED FOR TERENGGANU
9 April 2012

WIRA rider, Mohd Hafiz Nor Azman is feeling motivated for the upcoming round of the PETRONAS AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship at Stadium Sultan Mizan Gong Badak, Terengganu this 13 to 14 April having showed exceptional performance during the PETRONAS Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) pre-season test recently.

Held at the Sepang International Circuit last Wednesday and Thursday, the Team MOS Malaysia Racing representative appeared fastest in two out of the three test session, wrapping up the Underbone 115cc pre-season tests on top of the timesheets with a best lap time of 1'23.468s, suprising seasoned contenders not only from Malaysia but from Japan, Indonesia and also the Philippines.

Boosting his confidence further for the upcoming Cub Prix leg, Hafiz had a strong start to the season coming in third in the opening round behind Champion, Mohd Izzat Zaidi Mohd Salehan and runner-up, Tengku Amirul Haffiruddin both Motul Yamaha YY Pang Racing Team riders.

Although certain he has what it takes to fight for the podium this weekend, Hafiz does not expect an easy race. Assessing his chances Hafiz said, "Terengganu will be a tough race, in fact the entire season will because quite a number of riders have been racing in this class for several years, particularly the frontrunners. In terms of machine strength, there might not be much difference as the technical regulations are very tight but the experience they've gained over the years will certainly come as an advantage.

"Even so, that's no reason to feel inferior. In Batu Kawan I finished third and the ARRC pre-season test I recorded the best lap time so I am very motivated to fight for the podium this weekend, maybe even the chequered flag. What's important is that I remain focus, make full use of the practice session to understand the track and try my best to stay ahead of rivals," said the 16 year old.

Reflecting on his performance during the ARRC pre-season test, Hafiz commented, "Honestly, I was surprised when the timesheets were distributed. But based on this result I hope the team will consider placing me full season in the ARRC in the future. It will definitely be a great experience which will help develop my riding career."
