FAITO MOTOBERT RACING BANKING ON VETERANS 13 April 2012 Faito Motobert Racing heads to the second round of the 2012 PETRONAS AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship at Stadium Sultan Mizan Gong Badak, Terengganu this weekend with high-expectations on senior riders, Ahmad Fuad Baharudin and Ahmad Fazrul Sham. Second year running, the team managed by former rider, Rosnizam Mohd Noor (Obert) believes with Fuad and Fazrul on the front line they have a better chance of producing results quicker compared to last season where they placed their hopes on young riders with lesser experience in the super competitive CP130. The team proved to be on the right track as Fuad was among the frontrunners during the opening round in Batu Kawan. Unfortunately technical complications hindered the two time Expert/ CP130 Champion (2002 and 2009) from completing the race on the podium. Nevertheless, Fuad held his line strong to finish fifth. Similarly, Fazrul was overpowered by technical complications but was less fortunate as he was forced to forfeit the race. "The CP130 is very competitive and young riders is bound to face a tough time adjusting. Unless they are truly exceptional and talented, it will take very long for them to match their seniors. Hence why from young riders, we choose to go with veterans this season," explained Obert. He went on to add, "Fuad and Fazrul already possess the necessary skills and experience crucial in helping us build the team at a faster pace. They know how to provide relevant input or feedback on how the machine is reacting on track giving team mechanics a clear direction how to improve the setup. Additionally, they are focused and mentally stronger. Take Fuad for example, despite the technical issues he faced, he kept on going as best as he could to still finish the race fifth. This is a great example of a rider who doesn't give up easily." When asked about his targets for the Terengganu leg, Obert commented, "Although we did quite well in Batu Kawan, it's important we maintain realistic targets for the upcoming race. After all, majority of the teams were still in search of the right setup in the previous round so I won't be surprised if they would turn out faster this weekend. Instead of straight away gunning for the chequered flag, we're hoping to consistently compete with frontrunners and try to finish the race on the podium."
