RAMDAN TO OVERCOME TECHNICAL STRUGGLES
25 May 2012

Mohd Ramdan Mohd Rosli gears up for the fourth leg determined to overcome the technical struggles that has marred his campaign in the 2012 PETRONAS AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship CP130 category at Bandar Makhota, Banting this 26 and 27 May.

Throughout the three rounds that have passed, the PETRONAS Syntium Moto Yamaha AHM rider has yet to set foot on the podium or make it to top five- a major setback from his strong debut into the premiere class last season where he secured three podium finishes and one win. Instead the 16 year old completed Round 1 in Batu Kawan sixth before dropping down 11th in Terengganu (Round 2) and ninth in Kangar (Round 3).

Following that, the Klang born rider is currently placed 10th overall in the CP130 standings with 22 points, a 32 point disadvantage from Championship leader, Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman (Harian Metro Y-TEQ SCK Honda Racing) who owns the standings with 54 points. Second and third place is taken up by Mohd Zaqhwan Zaidi (Pachie Yuzy Honda Racing) and senior, Ahmad Fuad Baharudin (Faito Motobert Racing) 45 points and 38 points respectively.

The 16 year old explained, "The first three legs has been tough for the team. Everyone worked really hard setting up the bike with hopes it would produce results we wanted but our efforts has yet to pay off."

He went on to elaborate on the technical complications and said, "We took an experimental approach configuring the Yamaha this year by installing new parts. During initial tests, it showed a lot of promise but come an actual race, we found ourselves struggling alot trying to keep pace with rivals."

Even so, Ramdan's spirit is far from dampened. He looks forward to the upcoming round full of optimism as the team mechanics had rectify the issue in a recent test.

"I have a good feeling for the race this weekend. We ran a test with new parts and made a lot of progress with the machine. Given that and with a little bit of luck, I'm certain we can overcome our struggles and give the frontrunners a run for their money. It will be hard nonetheless considering how dominant the Honda camp is but not impossible seeing that Banting will be an open battle because it is a new track and nobody has any advantages there," he said.
