FAITO MOTOBERT RACING TO CONTINUE ASSAULT
26 May 2012

Content with their pace in the first three rounds in this season's PETRONAS AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship, Faito Motobert Racing sets out for Round 4 at Bandar Makhota in Banting with high-expectations of defending their lead in the CP130 team standings this 26 and 27 May.

Represented by seniors, Ahmad Fuad Baharudin and Ahmad Fazrul Sham, Faito Motobert Racing would be one of the dark horse team this season, capable of creating some upsets in the CP130 pecking order . Although they did not make it to top three in the first two rounds, both riders were seen consistent riding with the lead pack in Batu Kawan (Round 1) and Terengganu (Round 2) concluding it with a top five finish.

It was in Kangar (Round 3) they claimed the podium. A good start coupled with an efficient machine allowed the duo to defend their position from pursuing rivals to finish second and third respectively behind Elly Idzlianizar Ilias (Suzuki FortyOne Racing) who won his home-race, earning themselves third and fourth spot in the overall rider standings, 38 points and 33 points each. Meanwhile, Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman (Harian Metro Y-TEQ SCK Honda Racing) tops the chart with 54 points followed by Mohd Zaqhwan Zaidi (Pachie Yuzy Honda Racing) second, 45 points.

Additionally, Fuad and Fazrul's consistency bagging points places Faito Motobert Racing on top of the CP130 team standings with 71 points, a five point (66 points) advantage over Harian Metro Y-TEQ SCK Honda Racing 2 represented by Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman and rookie, Mohd Fitri Asraf Razali while Pachie Yuzy Honda Racing comes in third via Wan Mohd Hadri Wan Mukhtar and Mohd Zaqhwan Zaidi with 52 points.

Pleased with the team's direction, team manager Rosnizam Mohd Noor commented, "We are a relatively new team in the Championship with last season being our debut. So to start our second season with Fuad and Fazrul constantly coming in top five and we are now leading the team standings is quite overwhelming because we didn't think it was possible considering how strong the opponents are," he said.

He went on to add on the team's performance and said, "We possess a good mix of elements. While last year we placed our hopes on young upcoming riders, this season we banked on veterans who has a lot more experience and so far everthing has been going well. The duo are spot on when it comes to technical feedback given their years of involvement in Cub Prix, making it easier for the mechanics to develop the bikes and giving the team a tactical advantage over rivals.

"However it took us some time to get there. We overlooked some parts in Batu Kawan and this cost Fuad who was in lead to drop back fifth while in Terengganu, Fazrul stood a good chance to fight for the podium but a crash during warm up left him with an injured hand affecting his pace during the race. But come Kangar, we had all the right pieces together and both riders delivered superior pace to finish on the podium," he said.

Although content, Rosnizam views its far too soon to get comfortable as there is still a long way to go before the season ends. "It's hard to say what will happen next but we are certain the other teams will definitely fight back since we are still in the early parts of the season and most of them still in search of setup. Given this scenario, we intend to double our efforts for the upcoming race in Banting with hopes of defending our lead in the team standings by aiming for the chequered flag if not another double top five finish," added the former Cub Prix rider.
