News HILMI AFFAN SHOCKS TELUK INTAN 10 June 2012  What a surprise finish for the fifth round’s Privateer category held in Teluk Intan for the 2012 PETRONAS AAM Malaysian Cub Prix as long time contender, Hilmi Affan Abdul Malik brought home the win crushing in expectations of another victory by Khairul Azizi Abdul Mansor. The race was earlier led by Azlan Shah Saidun Hardi followed closely by Khairul Azizi and winner Hilmi but constant attack from behind pressured Azlan to make small mistakes along the way allowing Khairul Azizi and Hilmi to slip through. Hilmi was caught in a battle for first position with Khairul Azizi, repetitively exchanging positions that it is anybody’s guess who the winner might actually be. However, a last minute assault by Hilmi on Khairul Azizi who was already slightly leading finally gave him the hard-earned win. Hilmi closed his day in time of 10:37.490s while Khairul Azizi ended his at 10:37.758s. Third place winner Azlan although showing good performance from the start secured his podium spot under 10:39.319s. Khairul Azizi whom a regular first finisher reveals that he did what he could to sustain the momentum but a technical fault in his gearing hindered his performance. Claiming that his machine could not catch up to Hilmi’s especially around corners, Khairul still did well by grabbing the second podium step.
